Jim Tedford, CAWA, is President and CEO of the Society of Animal Welfare Administrators.
“SAWA is an Association made up of professionals in the fields of Animal Welfare and Animal Care & Control – the people who “walk the talk” each and every day to make communities better for animals and people alike. And, as always, we welcome your feedback.
Dear friends, In any organization or association, cooperation and collaboration are two vital elements to the success of the whole. Because we don’t really compete with each other, sharing our successes, near successes and well, the things that didn’t even sniff success make us all better.
Dear friends, For those of you who were able to join us for the 2016 SAWA Management Conference in Detroit, it was great to see you! And, for those of you who couldn’t make it, we missed you! You missed a FANTASTIC conference in a WONDERFUL city. Our Conference Committee put together an outstanding program with an amazing lineup of presenters.
Dear friends, As we enter our summer season, I am looking forward to the many great things coming up in the pipeline for SAWA, and I am thankful to share in the excitement with you. Congratulations to all of our members on the move! It was great to see a few of you at Animal Care Expo in Vegas and it will be wonderful to see many of you in Detroit for the SAWA Management Conference in two weeks.
Dear friends, It is with great pleasure that I present to you SAWA’s new Mission Statement: SAWA is a professional network that develops and promotes industry best practices, cultivates collaboration, and brings out the best in animal welfare leaders. The new Mission Statement was approved unanimously by the board of directors in March.
Dear friends, I’d like to start this letter off with congratulations – to our friends and colleagues who have hit major milestones in their careers (did you see all the updates in the last Members on the Move email?), and to the 26 animal welfare professionals who have joined the ranks of their peers as Certified Animal Welfare Administrators. This new class brings our total to 129 CAWAs.
