How can you be a better leader? Hold effective meetings.
I’m a big fan of the “standing meeting,” and by ”standing,” I really mean it. Have you ever held a staff meeting with all participants standing up? Try it. You’ll be amazed how quickly everyone is able to efficiently communicate their points, stay on topic and make decisions. Instead of holding a meeting for an hour, allocate thirty minutes. You accomplish the same amount of work in half the time. One of my favorite books, First Aid for Meetings by Charlie Hawkins, outlines how leaders can make meetings inspiring and productive.
